First of all, we're very sorry for not keeping you up to date sooner. We have been so busy over the last few months- which has been great!
But without further ado, Suitcases is nearing the end of its creation process with only two weeks left of rehearsals before our premiere in July at Hat Fair. Matt, Judy, Graeme, Ana, Bronya and Frode have been working tirelessly to make the show absolutely fabulous for our wonderful home audience! We're so pleased that we could open the show at Winchester Hat Fair, given our strong connections to the area! We were also so honoured that they asked us to help with the Press Launch for the festival last month. Our little teaser of what's to come in July, which featured our 4 lovely actors in Green Morphsuits becoming The Internet for our AD Matt, received much praise and laughter which we are so thankful for. It really gave us a boost to go back into the rehearsal room much renewed and vigorated!
As well as this, our Community and Education department have also been run off their feet! Lydia and Kirsty having been dilligently running our Possible Futures 2015 project, funded by Heritage Lottery Fund and The University of Winhester, for the last 11 weeks, helping to teach pupils in Eastleigh about their heritage through Street Theatre! This project culminated last weekend in a performance of all 3 schools at Eastleigh Band Stand in Leigh Park. We had such a fabulous turn out of friends, family and general public that the children had a real challenge, which they rose to beautifully and produced a fantastic performance! So a huge well done from everyone at Wet Picnic to Lydia, Kirsty, all the teachers and most importantly- WELL DONE to all the pupils! Our job is made by parents coming up to us afterwards and telling us how their child has come home singing, dancing and saying all the lines and have really come out of their shell. It makes us so proud, we can't wait to hopefully do another project like this again next year!
And finally, last but not least, our little office has been working double time to make sure all the shows are ready to go out to all the great festivals this year! We started the season with a bang a couple of weekends ago at Nottingham for Whee! Family Festival with The Lift. Even though we moved inside from fear of the torrential rain forecast, the show was a huge success and received rave reviews. But there's no rest for us! Oh no! Not when we have 3 shows out this weekend- The Lift is at FUSE Festival on Saturdaythen Bradford on Sunday, Time for Tea is at various locations around Adur coupled with our oldest show- The Dinner Table, which has returned this year due to popular demand, both will feature on Saturday 13th June! And then it's all go from there nearly every weekend (and sometimes week!) in the Summer. Have a look at our calendar and catch us where you can! We hope to see as many of you there as possible! Come up and say hi- we'd love to know what you think of the show!
I think that's everything from us here at Wet Picnic HQ- we will keep you up to date with our adventures and plans!
